Do you have questions about plants, trees, insects, native plants or how to keep your landscape healthy in Elbert county? Talk with one of our Colorado Master Gardener Volunteers who live here and understand the challenges residents face when gardening here.
Colorado Master Gardener Volunteers assist CSU Extension staff in delivering knowledge-based information about home gardening to foster successful gardening.
Elbert County Master Gardeners are in the Extension office located at the Fairgrounds in Kiowa on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1pm to 4:30 pm the months of April through September.
You can ask any of your gardening related questions of our Master Gardeners by calling the Extension office (303) 621-3162 on Tuesdays or Thursdays. You are welcome to come into the office and bring in samples. Or you may e-mail our Master Gardeners directly any time: coopext_elbert_mg@mail.colostate.edu

Master Gardener Newsletter
The Elbert County Master Gardeners publish a newsletter “Lett-uce Inform You” four times a year to help residents understand more about the challenges we face in Elbert County and how to manage them. The newsletter contains information on a variety of subjects with links to additional resources. Our Elbert County Master Gardeners are available to answer questions and find the additional resources you may need.
You may request a hard copy of the newsletter be mailed to you by contacting the Extension office. You also may request to receive a copy via e-mail by sending a request to coopext_elbert_mg@mail.colostate.edu

Seminars
The Elbert County Master Gardeners offer seminars and workshops throughout the year. Many are offered in the evenings and weekends to accommodate busy work and school schedules. We often have professional guest speakers offering their expertise as well as academic professionals with decades of experience in different areas of horticulture. Be sure to check the online calendar to see what’s coming up.

The Colorado Master Gardener Volunteers have access an extensive number of resources to help you learn more. Whether the subject be related to a specific plant, to the soil, weed management, irrigation or indoor plants there are resources available to help. Here are some tips to help find information.
Search engines
If you want to get researched based material at the end of your search term add “:site.edu” for example; “tiny alligator shaped bugs on leaves:site.edu”. Enter the text between quotes (don’t include quotations).
Tip: When presented with a large document it can help to search by a keyword. Press the ctrl+f keys to bring up the “find” input box and enter your search term, less is more. Enter “lady beetle” and all instances where the word(s) appear(s) will be highlighted and you can tab through them rather than reading through the entire work.
The Colorado State Extension office is where you will find all the publications put out by CSU as well as additional links to resources. Colorado Plant Talk is full of information specific to the Rocky Mountain Region.
